   The pizza here is kinda crappy. The toppings, especially the vegetables, seem like pre-cut, packaged, processed junk from Sysco. However the atmosphere, live music, and great community feel almost make up for it. OK beer selection.

   Scott,
   I am sorry to read your review. We would like you to try it again, on us, so that we might give you the quality food that we can offer. Unfortunately, there is a margin of human error in all of life, including pizza. Perhaps we can have another shot at it.
   And so you know, our toppings are all fresh! We have switched food distributors in the last month and I humbly believe you will be able to site the difference. Thank you for you input and please let me know when you would like to come in.

   I fell in love with the Pizza Shoppe when first directed to their location. When weekend tripping to KC, we saw the location in Platte City, MO. To be honest, the quality of the pizza at this location made the Benson Pizza Shoppe PALE in comparison. I couldn’t believe the difference in the freshness of the vegetables on the pizza, the proper proofing and freshness of the dough/crust. It would seem that a trip back to the basics and a visit to the Platte City Pizza Shoppe would bring the level of the Benson location to heights never seen before. I don’t know if it is the manner in which ingredients are prepped or if it is simply a staff that cuts corners that makes the difference, but there is definitely something missing in Benson.

    Also, this has no bearing on the service received at the Pizza Shoppe in Benson. The folks there are great. I just really hope that they work to improve the quality in what they do. Have also had issues with center loading of toppings (yes, I worked in pizza in college and hated when a pizza would come out with everything piled in the center and not all the way to the edge). One possible tip…..shake and bake the ground meats, vegetables, and cheese (i.e. measure out each, place in bucket type container, shake and then distribute on the pizza). Just a thought. This helps to resolve any potential of a center loaded pizza.
