   Okay, the Don Carmello’s Pizza place on Farnam had the best tasting pizza… the other DCarmellos places in and around omaha do not taste like that one… too bad is went out of business

   L….your so very right, they were the best of the other locations…the Elkhorn shop leaves much to be desired, very bad.

   Great News! While Elkhorn is still just 10 minutes from Omaha on the new expressway, those of you that want your REAL Don Carmelo’s a little closer, your pizza prayers are about to be answered. Tony & Amy are coming to Rockbrook! I have it on good authority that they are currently remodeling, but should be opened after the first of the year. For all you pizza neophytes, this is the franchise that has spawned a lot of imitators all over Omaha. Many of those people you see on “the list” worked at a Don Carmelo’s first. For a great example, check out http://truthaboutsamandlouies.com/ a hilarious blog that blows the lid off of one of those “original NY Stylers.” OK, what to order. Ask my daughters, I get the same thing every time…call it “Jay’s Special.” Grilled chicken, spinach, garlic and green olive. Save a slice for me!

   DON CARMELLO’S PIZZA ROCKS MY SOCKS!!!! From the broad menu to the satisifying pizza to the always friendly staff, you seriously can’t go wrong with Don Camello’s Pizza!

   Hey Jay, talk about phoney baloneys, slam your own house before you slam Sam and Louies! Word on the street is the elkhorn store was ripped off from johnny, the true Saviour of Doni Cs. We neophytes in Omaha have the best already and we do not want those skinny sliced pickle spears on our salads down here in the big O. bottom feeders, S and L.

   i would still think Donnie C’s has lost it to Omaha’s now best, Frank’s…..far more better pizza and authentic NYstyle menu offered in the big O. Sorry, but people here in Nebraska dont know what real pizza is.

    I have never tried the Elkhorn location. But the Farnam St location was absolutely *excellent* before they closed due to the fire. Just incredible pizza - with a wood-fired sort of taste. I don’t know if they cook it that way or not, but they managed to make it taste like it anyway! Yum. I was so sad when they closed…although I hear they may have re-opened/be re-opening that location finally?

    Isn’t there a DC in Rockbrook already? I used to go to the one on 120th, and that owner moved to rockbrook a couple years back. The original owner reopened the 120th location last spring or so.

    As for the Farnam location, I heard that it has now reopened after a full remodel after their fire a couple years ago.

    Hey all you pizza and Italian fans in Omaha would you like a new one in the area……we are located in south florida and want to get out of this rat race down here…we have an awsome tasting menu and have been in business for 23 years 10 in CT and 13 in Fla…its my husband and I we want your advice the resuarant is Little Italy all our food is REALLY good and we will miss our customers down here this is a big move SHOULD WE DO IT…………..please comment back

    I wouldnt….people here in Omaha want their BIG FREDS and Valentinos…truthfully and personaly, id relocate where great and authentic pizza and italian food would be appreciated…people here have no clue…stay away, or you’ll regret it.

    if i was to relocate a sucessful eatery here in Nebraska, i would consider North Platte due to it growing and you’d wouldnt have to compete w/ the local places. Also your prices would need to be reasonable. North Platte seems to be an untapped market for fine italian and Pizza and would be a great location because of I80 near-by w/visitors coming from out west(Denver,Cheyanne,Etc…) my opinion. To all in Omaha about” having no clue”, im not trying to insult anymone, just expressing my opinion..srry if i offend anyone.

    Duke are those pizza places chain restaurants or mom and pops……our prices start with an early bird dinner for 6.99 chicken parm,eggplant parm, baked ziti,spag mball, spag sausage, huge portions served with soup or salad, bread, 1 beverage and cake…what a deal served too, and our pizza, grande cheese and saparito pizza products the best home made sausage meatballs you would come back I guarantee it..and we are fun people the best around….do we have any chance at all in Omaha…..is their any if at all its got to be better than south florida its no paradise down here…..thanks for your honesty you must be good people you sound like it I am ready for the change Tiff and Bill

    Tiff, Valentinos is a chain and big freds is a M&P and are very populor w/the locals here…im from NY, moved here in 92…and since i been here there has been nothing in pizza to write home about…yea, they have about a million pizza joints here that claim there eastcoast(NY Style) pizza but are all Nebraska native owned, which means your not getting true NY pizza. I can tell in the difference in taste, quality and presentation. Just a few years ago, a couple who origanally are from Brooklyn, moved their business(FRANKS PIZZA) from Florida and seem to be doing ok…their pizza is very true its NY roots and it does bring me home everytime i eat there. Your Menu and specials sound awesome and i would love to try em out if u decide to move here, but as for FRANKS, most of their customers are ex NY’rs and east coast visitors. People here in Omaha are set in their local fare and i would think if you moved here that the buzz for your place would’nt last long. you might have a chance here, but i wouldnt expect the locals to make a long term change from their usual faves. I really hope the best for you and Bill and hope to see you open that great pizza shop here in Nebraska, believe me, they need more of them. regards, Duke

    I would pass on Valentino’s. Buffet is not my thing, so it is that or carry-out/delivery. Their sauce is way too sweet for me.
